Decoherence-free dynamical and geometrical entangling phase gates

چکیده

It is shown that entangling two-qubit phase gates for quantum computation with atoms inside a resonant optical cavity can be generated via common laser addressing, essentially, within one step. The obtained dynamical or geometrical phases are produced by an evolution that is robust against dissipation in form of spontaneous emission from the atoms and the cavity and demonstrates resilience against fluctuations of control parameters. This is achieved by using the setup introduced by Pachos and Walther [Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 187903 (2002)] and employing entangling Ramanor STIRAP-like transitions that restrict the time evolution of the system onto stable ground states.

Refocusing schemes for holonomic quantum computation in presence of dissipation

Due to the fragility of quantum coherence in the presence of noise, decoherence is the main obstacle to the practical realization of quantum computation. Exploring potential ways to implement robust quantum computation therefore is a crucial and attractive challenge. To the aim of stabilizing quantum information a variety of decoherence-reduction techniques have been developed, such as quantum ...

Experimental protection of quantum gates against decoherence and control errors

One of the biggest challenges for implementing quantum devices is the requirement to perform accurate quantum gates. The destructive effects of interactions with the environment present some of the most difficult obstacles that must be overcome for precise quantum control. In this work we implement a proof of principle experiment of quantum gates protected against a fluctuating environment and ...

Spin-dependent forces on trapped ions for phase-stable quantum gates and entangled states of spin and motion.

Favored schemes for trapped-ion quantum logic gates use bichromatic laser fields to couple internal qubit states with external motion through a "spin-dependent force." We introduce a new degree of freedom in this coupling that reduces its sensitivity to phase decoherence. We demonstrate bichromatic spin-dependent forces on a single trapped 111Cd+ ion, and show that phase coherence of the result...

Implementation of Single-Qutrit Quantum Gates via Tripod Adiabatic Passage

We proposed and analyzed implementation of the single-qutrit quantum gates based on stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) between magnetic sublevels in atoms coupled by pulsed laser fields. This technique requires only the control of the relative phase of the driving fields but do not involve any dynamical or geometrical phases, which make it independent of the other interaction details: ...

Quantum Process Tomography of a Universal Entangling Gate Implemented with Josephson Phase Qubits

Quantum logic gates must perform properly when operating on their standard input basis states, as well as when operating on complex superpositions of these states. Experiments using superconducting qubits have validated the truth table for particular implementations of e.g. the controlled-NOT gate 1,2 , but have not fully characterized gate operation for arbitrary superpositions of input states...
